There used to be a MG DEMU service between Mahesana & Taranga Hill which gave way to the some idiotic, unplanned, imprctical & unneccesary gauge conversion work in the section. The popular MG DEMU service between Taranga Hill & Mahesana which was introduced in 2003, used to take 1 hrs 45 mins to cover a distance of 33 kms with 7 halts viz. Varetha, Kheralu, Vadnagar, Gunja, Visnagar, Pudgam Ganeshpura & Randala. The train ran for the last time on 22nd December 2016 amid much fan-fair.
