The cost of retrofitting work for one 12-car rake, which includes electrical equipment, mechanical modification in coaches, replacement of old passenger seats, coach partitions with stainless steel, improved ventilation, new fans and lights, is approximately Rs 3.5 crore as against the cost of a new AC rake, which is Rs 24 crore.
