kolkata tram - 639 'Wheel of Joy'

Wheel of Joy --- Tram which was once a popular mode of transport in Kolkata is now being protected as a heritage icon. This non-pollutant mode of transport still attracts attention from travellers across the globe. Efforts are being taken by different organisations to protect this mode of transport. Framed by Roy at Tollygunge shed on 20th December 2016.

The concept and initiative of painting and decorating the tram was of a Kolkata-based travel Magazine 'Touriosity' headed by Rupanjana De, its Editor. Team Touriosity invited Mr. Joaquin Gonzalez Dorao, a Spanish Illustrator to perform the paintjob. As Rupanjana quoted "I had shortlisted about 35 landmarks and items associated with our City of Joy, Joaquin did a good job reproducing them on the outer body of the specially light-green painted tram." It was indeed a unique & great effort by Team Tourosity. The beautiful marvel was then inaugurated by the West Bengal Tourism department in August 2016.
